The Piscataquis County Soil and Water Conservation District (PCSWCD) is calling all artists! The PCSWCD is holding a poster contest for its children’s garden at the Law Farm.

Yoga instructor and Pine Tree Hospice volunteer Gayle Worden RYT, is offering free Yoga Nidra sessions for both professional and family caregivers in the community and for PTH volunteers as well. The sessions are about 45 minutes in length and are held at the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church on West Main Street The next session is at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 13.

Beatles for Sale, a top-rated New England Beatles tribute band, has announced they will perform at the Center Theatre at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 13.

Please join your neighbors at the upcoming free screening of the documentary “RESILIENCE” at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 7 at the Center Theatre. This film chronicles the research about the impact of toxic stress upon childhood development, and offers exciting new ways in which we all can work to promote resilience in all of our children – including our very youngest.

The Center Theatre is accepting registrations for the 2019 April vacation Theater Camp. The camp will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday April 15 through Friday, April 19 and will meet at The Commons Event Center at Central Hall.

On Friday April 5 Dexter Dover Area Towns in Transition (DDATT) will hold its next public discussion, the topic of which will be “Humanity’s Phase Shift.” Faced with rising environmental, social, economic and political problems across the planet, human beings are recognizing that the old governing systems based on competition and rivalry which have produced remarkable results for our species in the past are no longer workable as we approach 8 billion of us.

SoupStock 2019 will be held Saturday, April 6 as a fundraising event to benefit the food cupboard at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Sangerville and Dover-Foxcroft. Patterned after Empty Bowls, an international project to fight hunger and personalized by artists and art organizations on a community level, SoupStock has involved the creation and decoration of over 200 bowls made from clay.

If you love birds and want to learn more about how to identify them by their songs and calls, this workshop is for you. The Center Theatre recently announced that for the first time in its history, Theatre officials are raffling off a life-time movie pass. The pass will allow the winner to attend any movie at the Center Theatre for free for the life of the pass holder.

The Brownville Free Public Library has been selected by the Maine Humanities Council to offer “Let’s Talk About It,” a free reading and discussion group with copies of books available through the library. This program is provided by the Maine Humanities Council’s Maine Center for the Book in cooperation with the Maine State Library.
