Abbott Memorial Library presents Maine Bicentennial program

DEXTER — University of Maine professor of history Liam Riordan will present “Commemorating Maine Statehood: What can we learn from the Bicentennial?” at 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6 via Zoom. Dr. Riordan will discuss the statehood process that culminated with the formal separation from Massachusetts in 1820. The roots of the “two Maines” that exist to this day can be traced back 200 years to the state’s struggle to separate from Massachusetts.
