SAD 46 students will learn remotely for rest of week following five positive cases

DEXTER — All students at the Ridge View Community School and Dexter Regional High School will be learning remotely for the rest of the week after five people associated with SAD 46 have tested positive for COVID-19.

In an April 12 letter to the community posted at www.aos94.org, Superintendent Kevin Jordan said based on contact tracing it was determined that 90 students and 15 staff members will be quarantining as a precaution. “We have taken steps with our response team to follow Maine CDC and DOE guidelines to notify staff and students as appropriate,” Jordan said. “We believe it best to share what we can with our entire community.”

He said as of Tuesday, April 13, based on staff shortages, Dexter Regional High School and Ridge View Community School will offer remote learning only for students through the end of the week before April vacation. The plan is for all students to return to in-person learning at each school on Monday, April 26 after vacation.

The Tri-County Technical Center will remain open despite the other two schools closing, TCTC Director Brian Leavitt said in a post on the school Facebook page. Leavitt said SAD 46 buses will not be transporting students for the remainder of the week and students need to transport themselves or contact instructors to arrange for remote learning.
