PORTLAND — Six Catholic parishes in Maine including Our Lady of the Snows have been named recipients of the 2015 Matthew 25 Awards.

Stuart HedstromStaff Writer DOVER-FOXCROFT — Children in Penquis Child Development’s Early Head Start have gotten to see how their garden grows and soon will be able to eat what they sow through a vegetable planting activity at the program, which meets in the mornings on Tuesday through Thursday at the Morton Avenue Municipal Building and is free for income-eligible children from 6 weeks old to age 3.

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Throughout the school year students at the SeDoMoCha School are able to have both lunch and breakfast — the school began a universal free breakfast program this past year which provides morning foods regardless of the K-8 pupils’ free or reduced meal status.

Observer photo/Stuart Hedstrom NOT SAVORING THE FLAVOR — Fifteen entrants in the 12 and under whoopie pie eating contest were able to forget their table manners as they competed to see who could eat a whoopie pie and a half the fastest as part of the 2015 Maine Whoopie Pie Festival in Dover-Foxcroft on June 27.

BIDDEFORD –  Ian Imbert, a 2007 graduate of Foxcroft Academy, received his master’s degree in public health from the University of New England on May 16.
