Mayo Regional Hospital launches its inaugural employee ski day at Big Squaw Mountain in Greenville Junction on Saturday, Feb. 23. In an ongoing effort to encourage staff and community health and fitness, Mayo Regional Hospital is sponsoring a day of free skiing for Mayo employees and their families. “Get out and Get Active” is this year’s theme.

The Piscataquis County Soil and Water Conservation District (PCSWCD) will be hosting an introduction to Permaculture and discussion at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5 at the Thompson Free Library.

The program is open to adults in the community who have experienced grief due to death, whether recently or in the past. The support group, presentation, and nutritious lunch are all free of charge.

Elizabeth Rosner, the daughter of two Holocaust survivors, will present via video “Understanding and Transforming the Legacy of Intergenerational Trauma” on Thursday, Feb. 14 at 1 p.m. at The Commons at Central Hall. Her program is part of the Healing Trauma Summit from Sounds True and is presented by NAMI Piscataquis County.

The American Legion Post 41 home at 18 West Main Street in Milo is open to all veterans to visit and if you need assistance with veterans benefits we are ready to assist veterans, widows, and next of kin in obtaining discharge records, and placing them in contact with the Department of Maine service officers who will assist in seeking veterans benefits and information. The Dexter Music Boosters will sponsor a big band concert featuring Opus One at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10 at Dexter Regional High School. Proceeds will benefit the high school band’s trip to Williamsburg, Virginia for the Fiesta-val Music Festival.
