I recently wrote a column about two of the non-population federal censuses, agricultural and manufacturing, and promised I would write about other special censuses of value to genealogists. One of my personal favorites is the mortality census. Many genealogists haven’t heard of them but they can be of enormous help in finding the death date of an ancestor if that ancestor happened to die at a certain time.

Lobster Bowl positions are to be determined but Bickford and Kirshkaln were linemen for the Ponies and Tigers respectively and Smith played receiver and defensive back for the Ponies.

As a companion piece to an earlier Dexter Dover Area Towns in Transition (DDATT) workshop on “Being Prepared,” Felix Blinn will host a free public class on food storage from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 13 at the Dexter Town Hall (across from the Abbott Memorial Library).

Building awareness of disease and learning screening techniques for sheep, goats, alpacas and other small ruminants is the focus of the second annual small ruminants health workshop 1–4 p.m. April 13 at the Foxcroft Large Animal Veterinary Associates (FLAVA) Clinic, 1441 Dexter Road.
