Friends of Wilson Pond Area sponsoring 25th anniversary photo contest

GREENVILLE — In celebration of its 25th anniversary as a Maine Land Trust, the Friends of Wilson Pond Area is sponsoring a photo contest. Photo contest rules and more information about the Friends of Wilson Pond Area may be found at www.fowpa.org.

A quarter century ago, the Friends of Wilson Pond Area purchased a conservation easement on 150 acres of land which includes three miles of shore land on Lower Wilson Pond. Rum Mountain rises behind the easement which begins at Rum Brook and extends along the shoreline to the thoroughfare between Upper and Lower Wilson Ponds. Four public, rustic shorefront campsites are maintained by the Friends of Wilson Pond Area and are available on a first-there basis. Public access to the pond is available at the public boat landing on the south end of Lower Wilson Pond. Come explore the ponds by canoe, kayak or small motor boat.
