PCHS girls win three events at Ellsworth meet

ELLSWORTH — The Piscataquis Community High School girls outdoor track and field team scored 54 points to place fourth among seven schools at  Penobscot Valley Conference met at Ellsworth High School on May 14.

Senior Ava Goulette led the Pirates by finishing first in both the shot put and discus. Goulette threw the shot a distance of 30 feet, 2.25 inches, besting runner-up George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill junior Acadia Simmons by 11 inches.

Goulette earned top discus honors with a throw measuring 93 feet, 4 inches, seven inches more than the 92-09 for Hermon High School senior Addi Kenney.

PCHS sophomore Ava Edes won the high jump by clearing 4-10, two inches above the 4-08 for Bangor Christian School sophomore Annie Allen.

Senior Sadie Kelley finished second in the 1,600 racewalk with her time of 9 minutes, 26.53 seconds.

Sophomore Ella Zeller had a third-place performance in the shot put at 26-05. She was also fifth in the discus and sixth in the javelin at 80-10 and 69-07.

Junior Haylee Marshall came in the fourth in the triple jump as she landed a 27-02.

Freshman Reagan Rollins placed fifth in the javelin at 75-01. Sophomore Savana Ward was sixth in the shot put at 23-06.

The PCHS boys picked up 18 points to come in seventh among eight teams.

Sophomore Oliver Luckovskis came in second in the 800 with his time of 2:10.95.

Junior Phoenix Brown placed third in the triple jump at 32-09.

Senior Noah Kain’s fourth-place javelin throw measured 114-04.
