Winter workshops at Guilford Memorial Library
GUILFORD — Late last summer Wendy Lorrigan, a resident of Sangerville who teaches art at Piscataquis Community Elementary School in addition to being a community artist, was awarded two grants.
One grant was from the Maine Arts Commission and the Maine Humanities Council to create an arts and humanities piece that celebrates the old woolen mill. The piece titled “If Walls Could Talk” is part of an interactive display that can be found at the Guilford Memorial Library.
The second grant Lorrigan was awarded is from a partnership between Sidexside and the Maine Arts Commission, called Maine Creates. She developed a series of introductory artistic workshops that will be available to the public at no cost that are age- and ability-friendly. The project is titled “The Collective Canvas Project” where participants will make two pieces, take one and display the other at the Guilford Memorial Library. Sign ups will be coming soon.
