Three Dexter runners qualify for state cross country championships

BELFAST — Three Dexter Regional High School cross country runners earned berths in this Saturday’s Class C championships by virtue of their performances at the 2025 Class C North meet on Saturday, Oct. 25 at Troy Howard Middle School.

Tiger freshman Crystal Adkins covered the 5K course in a time of 22 minutes, 46.91 seconds. This placed Adkins 10th among a field of 49 runners and by finishing in the top 30 Adkins earned one of the individual spots for the state meet.

Senior Annabelle Peakes also received a berth. At the regional final Peakes placed 15th with her time of 23:39.63.

Dexter freshman Lydia Standish came in 48th in Belfast at 38:41.03.

Orono High School senior Clara White won the race in 19:01.78, over 1:27 ahead of the runner-up.

Orono won the girls title with 35 points, followed by 46 for George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill and 66 points for third-place Narraguagus High School of Harrington.

In the boys race, Dexter senior Ezekiel Bermudez ran a time of 19:04.33. Bermudez placed 27th among 90 entrants to earn a spot in the state race.

Also running for the Tigers were senior Luca De Pasquale, 56th at 21:59.77; freshman Quincy McClure, 58th at 22:09.63; and freshman Michael Irish, 68th at 22:44.99.

Orono senior Andrew Barrett earned first-place honors with his time of 16:59.74, by more than a half dozen seconds.

The Houlton High School/Great Houlton Christian Academy cooperative earned the boys title with a score of 25 points. Orono was second with 65 and George Stevens came in third with a score of 78 points.

The Class C championships are scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 1 at Cony High School in Augusta. The girls are set to run at 1:40 p.m. with the boys to follow at 2:20 p.m.

Foxcroft Academy took part in the day’s Class B North championships.

Pony sophomore Zoe Eakright came in 61st among 73 girls entrants with her time of 27:41.41.

Mount Desert Island High School sophomore Kulani Granholm finished first at 19:14.96, by nearly 15 seconds.

The MDI girls won the Class B North title at 28 points, followed by 71 points for John Bapst Memorial High School of Bangor and 93 for third-place Caribou High School.

Three Foxcroft boys ran in the regional final.

Junior Noah Ferioli placed 42nd among a field of 90 with his time of 19:40.43. Junior Ethen Eakright crossed the finish line soon after at 20:00.06 for 44th place. Freshman Skyler Patrick was 87th in 26:13.98.
