Ridge View tops Foxcroft/SeDoMoCha in youth wrestling meet

    DEXTER — It’s been a while since one of Luis Ayala’s wrestling teams has lost a meet, but on March 9 the Ridge View Middle School team won the 12-team youth meet. Ridge View placed first to top a combined squad of the Foxcroft Youth and SeDoMoCha Middle School wrestling teams which placed second. Ridge View scored 144 points, Foxcroft/SeDoMoCha had 134 and Little Lynx/Mattanawcook Middle School placed third with 130 points.

    YOUTH WRESTLING — SeDoMoCha wrestler Rico Ayala attempts to pin his opponent on March 9 during the youth tournament held in Dexter. Ayala won his weight class with a 5-2 decision over his Howland Youth Wrestling opponent.

    Over 230 wrestlers from 12 different teams participated in the tournament. The teams participating were from Calais, Calvary Chapel, Dexter, Dover-Foxcroft, Piscataquis Community, Hermon, Howland, Lincoln, Pittsfield, Mt. View and East Machias.
    Foxcroft Youth Wrestlers who finished first in their weight class were Griffin Caruso, Silas Topolski, Parker Weymouth, Jack Caruso, Gage Beaudry, Jaxson Blanchard and A.J. Atkinson. SeDoMoCha wrestlers who won their division were Ayala, Adam Dulac, Esau Olson, Jacob Olson, Jared Atkinson, Phillip Pleninger  and Jason Eubanks.
