Center Theatre to host high school one-act plays
DOVER-FOXCROFT–The Center Theatre will be hosting Foxcroft Academy and Central High School as students present their one-act plays before going to the regional one-act play competition. Foxcroft Academy will perform at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28. Both Foxcroft Academy and Central will perform at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 1. Admission will be by donation.
Foxcroft Academy will be performing ‘Yearbook”, written by Scott Bickerstaff and Central will perform “Flora & Ulysses”, which was written by John Glore based on the novel by Kate DiCamillo. Both plays are going on to the regional one-act competition the following weekend. Performances at the Center Theatre are great practice for the cast and crew.
“At the competition there are very strict time restrictions on the plays, as well as on the set-up and break-down,” said Patrick Myers, the Center Theatre’s executive director. “Being able to practice the plays in front of a live audience helps the actors and crew get ready for their competition so they can shine.”
The Center Theatre is a non-profit performing arts venue with a mission to engage and inspire by making arts, education and entertainment accessible to our rural communities.
