Air Force Brig. Gen. Kinney to be promoted to major general

A man with local ties will be promoted to two-star general in a ceremony in Bangor on Friday, Sept. 13. U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Robert I. Kinney of Maryland, who grew up in Atkinson, will become major general.

He could have opted to have the ceremony elsewhere, but “wanted to come back here to have it because this is where it all started,” explained his mother Alice Kinney. “Here, everyone in the neighborhood has been invited and they’re planning to go.”
