Farm fresh foods served at Sebec Country Store, Mainely Pastures Diner
SEBEC — After several years of operating a food truck, Jason and Allison McCormick have a permanent business home at the Sebec Country Store and Mainely Pastures Diner. It is located at the Sebec Four Corners at 635 Milo Road (Route 6/16).
Jason served in the U.S. Army from 2004-09, being stationed in Germany and serving a tour in Iraq. He and his wife Allison’s older son Korbyn was born in Germany in 2007. Their younger son Grifyn is 12.
Taking a break from the grill near the end of a weekday lunchtime, Jason said he and Allison had Mainely Pastures Farm in Charleston before selling two years ago. “We raised our own beef cattle, we did that and pigs mainly,” he said. Jason said they sold the farm to friends of theirs who they use as the source of their meats.
STORE AND DINER — The Sebec Country Store and Mainely Pastures Diner is located at 635 Milo Road at the Sebec Four Corners. Jason and Allison McCormick took over the business last fall.
While having the farm they also had a pair of food trucks which they ran for four years. “We went everywhere, all around Bangor, we did the Blueberry Festival in Machias,” Jason said, saying they are thinking of taking the food truck they still own out on the road once a month.
He said they served “pretty much everything we do here, burgers, chicken tenders, sausages, fries, onion rings, pulled pork.”
The McCormicks took over the Sebec Country Store and the rechristened Mainely Pastures Diner in October. Jason said they wanted “something more permanent and stationary instead of packing and lugging coolers, bouncing around with trailers everywhere.”
FAMILY-OWNED — Sebec Country Store and Mainely Pastures Diner owners Jason and Allison McCormick with their sons Korbyn, who is about to turn 17, and Grifyn, 12.
“We pretty much brought that menu into here and added some stuff to it,” Jason said. He said the Mainely Pastures Smashburger, two smashburgers with cheese, grilled pineapple, and sweet bourbon sauce on a toasted brioche bun, and Cowboy Smashburgers, two smashburgers with cheese topped with freshly smoked pulled pork, BBQ sauce, and farm fresh onion rings on a toasted brioche bun, are among the most popular items.
“I like just being around all the people and seeing everyone come in happy,” Jason said. “It is pretty steady all the time.”
“Every morning we have a group, there’s anywhere from 10-15 that come in every morning,” he said with these now regulars hanging out and catching up.

“We’ve built a really nice clientele,” Allison said.
She said they enjoy “the community and meeting and serving our farm fresh meals. We raised our beef so we know what people are eating and we enjoy seeing them enjoy the food as much as we do, so I think that’s rewarding.”
The Sebec Country Store is open Monday to Thursday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mainely Pastures Diner is open Monday 6 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday to Thursday 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
