GFWC MIOSAC Club news
DOVER-FOXCROFT — On Oct. 3 the GFWC MIOSAC Club’s first meeting of 2023-24 was held at the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church. The first meeting is titled “Souper” Supper put on by the advisory committee, consisting of Suzanne Raymond, Roxy McLaughlin, and Brenda Quiet.
President Minnie McCormick welcomed members and all began eating their supper. After they all filled each other in on their summer activities and finished eating, McCormick called the meeting to order. McCormick thanked the advisory committee for the wonderful, delicious supper and led the group in the Club Collect, American’s Creed and Pledge of Allegiance.
Raymond gave a special gift presentation from club members to member Ramona Parsell for her upcoming wedding.

Duane Leighton took roll call, 17 members were present. She presented the secretary’s report — filed as read.
Corresponding Secretary McLaughlin read three thank you messages. Kelly Sirimoglu, executive director Dover-Foxcroft Area Food Center, thanked the recent donation; Dover-Foxcroft Fire Fighters Association gave thanks for donation which went toward the purchase of a rescue tool for rescues and extrication; amd a thank you from Ron and Roxy McLaughlin for choosing them to host the summer yard sale fundraiser.
Raymond read the treasurer’s report — filed as read.
Auditor Barb Austin accepted and filed the club’s books for 2022-23.
Quiet announced the next meeting would be held on the 17th with hostesses Dot Tonic and Vickie Parsons. Program Chair Raymond will present Jen Mabee, No. District co-president, sharing her LEADS experience 2023.
Publicity Chair Moschella will send meeting information to the Piscataquis Observer.
No old business. New business consisted of a reminder that the fall conference will be held on Oct. 14 at Maple Hill Farm in Hallowell. Five members will be attending.
Discussion about programs and who will do them. A poll was taken about possible changes to meetings. Ideas will be discussed at the next meeting.
McLaughlin and Quiet let members know of items needed at the Dover-Foxcroft Area Food Center.
Raymond brought four Linus quilts to be donated.
Club members brought tuna fish, cereal and soup to be donated to the food center.
McCormick adjourned the meeting.
