MONSON — Camden Shakespeare Festival, Monson Arts, and the Center Theatre will present Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream outdoors in Monson at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 22. Perhaps Shakespeare’s most popular comedy, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is a dream come true. When four lovers flee to the forest to sort out their romantic problems, they accidentally get mixed up in a feud between the King and Queen of the fairies. Fantastical love potions abound, making hilarious chaos of their amorous intentions. Add to this a man magically turned into a donkey, who becomes beloved of the Fairy Queen, and you have a midsummer night you will never forget.
“Our production will be a surreal delight,” says director Stephen Legawiec, “with hand carved-masks and live music. As for the fairy world, the audience will become part of the dream themselves. It will be absolutely fun and unforgettable.”
Attendees should plan to bring blankets or camp chairs to enjoy the play which will be presented outdoors behind Tenney House, 47 Tenney Hill Road. Tickets are only $12 for the public and $6 for kids 14 and under and for members of the Center Theatre. For tickets and more information, visit www.CenterTheatre.org or call the Center Theatre at 207-564-8943. Tickets will also be available at the door.
