Milo Taxi and Delivery’s grant part of statewide program creating 100 new jobs

    AUGUSTA — Almost 100 new jobs are being created across Maine thanks to recently announced Economic Development Program awards. The Economic Development Program (EDP) provides communities with gap funding to assist identified businesses in the creation and/or retention of jobs for low and moderate income people.

    The funds are administered by the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) as part of the federally funded Community Development Block Grant Program.
    A sum of $60,000 has been awarded to Milo Taxi and Delivery for garage construction, garage equipment purchase and software and hardware purchases — creating two jobs.
    “This EDP grant and the matching loan I am taking, means that a micro-enterprise in Piscataquis County is going to be able to create two more jobs in Milo,” said Michael Anderson, owner of Milo Taxi and Delivery
    “These grant awards will have a direct impact on new jobs and new revenue, benefiting not only these particular businesses and communities, but the entire state,” said Gov. Paul R. LePage.
    “The funds awarded under this program promote business growth and make our economy stronger through job creation and investment in our state,” said DECD Commissioner George Gervais.
    Projects receiving EDP funds must provide 100 percent cash match of the total EDP award and matching funds must be directly related to the activities undertaken with EDP funding.
