    BANGOR — Several area residents closed out 2012 by being among 114 runners taking part in the seventh annual Epic Finale 5K on Dec. 31 through the streets of Bangor. Finishing the highest among the five from the region was Peter Devine, 63, of Garland who covered the 3.1-mile course in 24 minutes, 43 seconds.

    Placing 40th was Gary Larson, 67, of Dover-Foxcroft, at 24:51. Also running was Meredith Roderka, 17, of Dexter, 54th at 26:57; Lori Sharrow, 46, of Dover-Foxcroft, 58th at 27:34; and Darcie Sands, 35, of Dover-Foxcroft, 93rd at 33:41.

    Winning the Epic Finale 5K was Adam Goode, 29, of Bangor, in 15:31.

    The top female runner was Sarah Mulcahy, 27 of Baring Plantation, who was 12th overall at 20:33.
