Modern Image Salon celebrates 25th anniversary

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Modern Image Salon celebrates 25 years in business this month, and owner Shari Sage wants to mark this milestone with an anniversary bash at Tap 62 from 5-10:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20. Other local business owners and clients of Modern Image Salon are invited to the party for an evening of live music by Clifford & Morgan Cameron. Modern Image is providing complimentary TAP 62 appetizers, product giveaways and door prizes, and a cash bar will be available.

“I just want to thank the community from the bottom of my heart for supporting me for 25 years,” explained Sage, “I have grown to love so many individuals; I’ve been a part of weddings, graduations, the birth of babies, funerals, summer BBQ’s, birthday parties and more – just building relationships; I am so grateful.”

In October of 2022, the Salon held a “Red Carpet” event to celebrate its reopening after a 3-month renovation project which added a second floor to the salon. “It was remarkable how many folks showed up to walk the red carpet for the re-opening event,” said Chamber Director Denise Buzzelli, “folks were standing elbow to elbow inside and were gathering on the sidewalk and street outside; it was such a testament of support from their clients – they are truly loved in this community.”

NEW LOOK SALON — Modern Image Salon of Dover-Foxcroft will celebrate 25 years in business with an anniversary bash at Tap 62 from 5-10:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20. From left are Hailey Wooddell, owner Shari Sage, and Robin Brasslett.

Sage, who often speaks of “building trusting relationships” with her clients, attributes the growth and success of the salon to both the connections she’s made with her clients over 25 years and the women she has had the privilege of working with since Modern Image first opened its doors – some of whom have moved on to open their own businesses. “I am so thankful to have worked with several wonderful women over the years; each of whom have taught me something during their time at Modern Image; Gingar Marden, Christina Marsh, Joanne Adkins, and Karen Snow – they are each a part of this story,” Sage said.

Though they’ve moved on to find their own successes, Sage is thankful to have kept those relationships active in her life.

“My LMT, Lisa Braiser, has been using her healing hands, giving the best massage in our area; in my opinion, for over 20 years,” Sage said, and of Hailey Wooddell, who joined the team two years ago bringing 10 years’ experience with her. “She kills it on men’s and boys’ cuts and isn’t afraid to try some fun color on her clients,” Sage said.

Through it all, says Sage, her sister Robin Brasslett has worked close beside her for over 20 years. “It has been my privilege to work with my sister Robin every day,” Sage said, “she gives so much to the salon and to me, I know Modern Image wouldn’t be what it is without her, she said, adding, “and my niece Julia Shaw recently joined us as a nail tech; I am so excited to have her as a part of this team.”

Through more than two decades, hundreds of clients, stylists and renovations, Sage has remained committed to upholding a healthy, uplifting, happy work environment for her stylists, and a family-like atmosphere for all Modern Image clients. “Never could I have imagined what would become of my business when I opened 25 years ago in my early 20’s,” Sage said with a smile, “and I am really excited about what’s to come.”

Chamber members and Modern Image Salon clients can RSVP by Jan. 18 on the Modern Image Facebook page or the Chamber’s website at www.piscataquischamber.com/events.
