Marc Black to perform ‘Boppa Chua’ at Center Theatre
DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Center Theatre will be presenting a special performance by New York Blues Hall of Fame inductee Marc Black. Beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 28, Black will transport audiences on a nostalgic journey with his enchanting and informative “Boppa Chua” program.
A fusion of song, storytelling and multimedia, “Boppa Chua” is a love letter to the vibrant tapestry of past decades. From bobby socks to civil rights and classic rock, Black seamlessly weaves history and music together into a performance that is entertaining, inspirational and even educational.
“Every song, every story is a tribute to the times that shaped us, and the spirit that keeps us moving forward. ‘Boppa Chua’ is about reconnecting with our past and celebrating our journey,” said Black.
Black’s storied career spans more than four decades, marked by a Top 40 hit with his high school band, The Blades of Grass, and collaborations with iconic artists such as Art Garfunkel, Taj Mahal, and Richie Havens. Now, Black brings his unique perspective and lifelong dedication to the craft to Center Theatre.
Black’s performance isn’t a solo act. His wife Susan has created a unique visual presentation that perfectly complements his music-filled storytelling. Together with Black’s trusted guitar “Claudette” they bring a powerful and joyous experience to audiences.
Attendees can look forward to an evening of spontaneous singing, laughter and shared memories as they are carried on the melody of songs as diverse as “Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka-dot Bikini” and “Blowin’ in the Wind.”
Admission for the concert is $12 in advance and for members of the Center Theatre; $15 the night of the show. Tickets can be purchased online at www.centertheatre.org, by calling the box office at 207-564-8943, or by visiting in person at 20 East Main Street.
