Conroy completes U.S. Customs and Border Patrol training
GLYNCO, Ga. — Joshua Conroy of Dover-Foxcroft graduated from the U. S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Field Operations Academy recently.

Over the course of the 19-week academy, CBP officers train in basic law enforcement skills, including anti-terrorism; detection of contraband; interviewing; cross-cultural communications; firearms qualification; immigration and naturalization laws; U.S. Customs import and export laws, defensive tactics; arrest techniques and officer survival training.
Conroy has worked at local police departments in Piscataquis County as a reserve officer and will continue his port assignment in Jackman immediately upon his return to the area.
Joshua is a 2013 graduate of the University of Maine at Presque Isle with a major in criminal justice and a minor in recreation. He graduated from Foxcroft Academy with certification as a CDL driver and criminal justice from the Tri-County Technical Center in 2009.
Conroy is the son of Jane and Edward Conroy of Dover-Foxcroft. He is following his late grandfather’s footsteps, James E. Kelly, who served with the U.S. Customs in Portland for 20 years.
