GREENVILLE — More Moosehead Lake area residents can quickly e-mail photos, download music, participate in e-learning and video conferencing now that FairPoint Communications has expanded broadband service again.
According to a company press release, 95 homes and businesses in the towns of Greenville, Big Moose Township and Harfords Point Township will have the high-speed Internet service available.
The new service areas are Shore Road in Greenville, Big Moose Point in Big Moose Township; and Cedar, Chipmunk, Cusac Trail, Davis, Davis Ridge, Gerrish, Glin Eldon, Moose Bay, North Shore, Sanders and South Shore roads in Harfords Point.
Last month, FairPoint announced expansion of broadband into another 75 homes and businesses in Greenville, Shirley and Beaver Cove.
Since April 2008, FairPoint has invested more than $700 million in its communications infrastructure and technology to reach new customers, upgrade its network and expand broadband in northern New England, including building thousands of miles of new fiber across the region, offering customers a better, faster way to communicate.
“Broadband access opens doors to the world for the residents and businesses in Maine and is fundamental to the state’s future economic growth,” said Mike Reed, FairPoint’s Maine state president. “Our employees are working every day to build more broadband across the state.”
