ABBOT – John C. Getchell, 66, husband of Sharon (Wilhite) Getchell, died January 28, 2014, at his home in Abbot. He was born July 22, 1947, in Dover-Foxcroft, the son of Robert and Dorothy Louise (Shirley) Getchell.
    A U.S. Army Veteran, John had worked as a carpenter for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman, and especially enjoyed fishing and hunting.
    He is survived by his wife, Sharon, of Abbot; three sons, Corey Dellaire of New Hampshire, M. Scott Wilhite and his wife, Annie, of Guilford, and Carter Edminster of Missouri; a daughter, Susie Capenter and her husband, Jimmy, of Indiana; a brother, Rick Getchell and his wife, Becky, of Guilford; two sisters, Cheryl Tremblay and her husband, Norman, of Dexter, and Gail Robinson of Sangerville; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
