MDOT has $22.8Min improvements planned for Piscataquis County

Dexter area slated for $6.8 million

Staff Report

AUGUSTA — Maine Department of Transportation Commissioner David Bernhardt has released his department’s statewide work plan for the next three years, which leverages a $100 million voter-approved transportation bond passed last November.
Members of Associated General Contractors and supporters joined Bernhardt and Gov. Paul LePage at a press conference last week, noting that more than 1,600 projects are on the work plan through 2016.

Locally, more than $22.8 million in road repairs and bridge improvements for Piscataquis County are in the work plan and another $6.8 million is in the budget for the Dexter area.
“This work plan is exactly that: a summary of the work that we plan to do,” said Bernhardt.  “We work hard to follow through.”
The major projects in the Penquis region include some long-anticipated upgrades to Route 7 in Dexter, Route 11 in Brownville and Route 150 between Parkman and Guilford. Some projects like the Route 150 upgrade, however, won’t be completed until 2015-16, according to the work plan.
