Herring Brothers beef jerky makes airman feel at home

To the Editor:
I would first like to take the time to introduce myself. My name is Scott Travers and I grew up in Cambridge. As a child I ate Herring Brothers Meats beef jerky often and now as a United States Air Force firefighter, I would like to thank this local company for the generous donation of beef jerky to Airmen on deployment with me.

I was excited to have “a part of home” while deployed, and the other Airmen are grateful to be able to taste such great beef jerky from Piscataquis County, Maine. We are all appreciative and humbled by this act of kindness. This small company’s efforts have increased the crew’s morale and reinvigorated the focus of each and every one of us as to why we make the sacrifices we do, day in and day out.
Please know how much we appreciate Herring Brothers and what their team is doing to recognize those that wear the cloth of this nation. Their contributions to the U.S. military cannot be understated. Every bag of jerky we opened sent smiles across all of our faces. Herring Brothers Meats gratitude truly makes a difference in a Service member’s quality of life. I would also like to say thank you to Patty Izbicki for helping in the coordination process. Without her help many troops may not have had the chance to experience the gratuity of true Maine’as.
