Ben Zabin, one of America’s top teen magicians, is coming to Dover-Foxcroft for a one-night show at the Center Theatre at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 16.

The first female through-paddler of the 740-mile Northern Forest Canoe Trail (NFCT) will talk about her adventures in the Greenville Town Office Community Room (7 Minden Street) from 6–7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 28.

Eleanor Godreau, left of Dover-Foxcroft, recently posed for a photo featuring five generations of her family. Joining her were, from left, Anna Barton, Lisa Carr, Joshua Carr and Adalyn Carr. This is the second five-generation family group for Godreau.

But on Sunday, March 4, the parish community will gather together on the same patch of land on Pritham Avenue. This time, tears of sadness will be replaced with joy as parishioners walk into the new Holy Family Church for a 10 a.m. Mass of Dedication, celebrated by Bishop Robert P. Deeley. All are welcome to attend.

TEWHEY -- A daughter, Lainey Elizabeth Tewhey, to Sabrina Sharrow and Brian Tewhey on February 8, 2018. She joins older brother Nolan Tewhey.

Sen. Paul Davis, R-Sangerville was awarded the Distinguished Advocacy Award, a prestigious honor bestowed by the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) in recognition of his commitment to protect Mainers from the death and disease related to tobacco addiction, specifically, for sponsoring legislation which increased the minimum legal sales age of tobacco products in Maine to 21.

The 118th Audubon Christmas Bird Count (known as the 2017 Christmas Bird Count) was held in the area on Dec. 20.

The following births were recorded recently at Mayo Regional Hospital.

The students of PCES finished the WinterKids Winter Games with a score of 99.31 points, placing 13th among institutions from the state’s 16 counties.

The Center Theatre is accepting registrations for the February Vacation Drama Camp which is being held at the SeDoMoCha School. The camp runs from Feb. 19 through the 23rd, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a performance at the Center Theatre the evening of Feb. 23.

On Feb. 2 Piscataquis Community Elementary School seventh- and eighth-graders traded their textbooks for skis. A total of 53 students headed to Big Squaw Mountain for an afternoon of skiing -- many of whom first learned how to ski last year in this program while others were figuring out how to maneuver in ski boots for the first time.

On Jan. 26 a crew and equipment arrived at St. John’s Episcopal Church from J. M. Brown General Contractors of Hermon. Their purpose was to install a new steeple on the church. According to some of the local people, the equipment and the project created a bit of a stir in the village.
