One might ponder why the department doesn’t back the hatchery truck up to the shore of a pond and just keep tuckin’ the fish right to it until their backs are out of the water. This would certainly produce some pretty good fishing, right? Well, sometimes in fisheries management less is more.

We continue a conversation with Maine’s first Small Business Advocate, my friend, Jay Martin. Jay’s office was established within Maine’s Secretary of State’s office. For the past decade, we have been hearing about the supposed "rebirth" and "revitalization" of Bangor. Yet, at the end of the day, it is all an illusion. For all the "Bangor is back!" talk of some kind of Queen City renaissance, it isn't reflected in the numbers. Bangor has lost 1,000 people in the past decade. Yes, Bangor's population is shrinking.

A 71-year-old man reported missing on June 8 was found alive the following morning in Monson. Maine game wardens and a Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Office deputy located Arthur Lowe, 71, shortly after 7 a.m. on Friday, June 9.

Soil and water conservation districts from across Maine recently participated in a Conservation District Day at the Statehouse Hall of Flags. Sen. Paul Davis, R-Sangerville, and several other legislators and senators stopped into the Hall of Flags to visit with district staff and discuss pertinent issues and concerns.

This is the month that eager, full-of-hope young adults graduate from institutions of learning. Whether high school or college, these graduates are always subjected to one final round of advice from a commencement speaker before they toss their hats in the air and bolt for the door.

June 2, 2017 was declared Richard M. Brown Day in the town of Dover-Foxcroft. The day was marked to honor an exceptional man who has been the CEO of the Charlotte White Center (CWC) for the past 38 years.

The area’s five high schools all had representation on the 2017 Penobscot Valley Conference (PVC) All-Conference Outdoor Track Teams.

Upcoming summer events

On Election Day Tuesday, June 13th voters will be going to the polls. Unlike many other elections, we are not seeing constant media coverage as there is only one State bond question being voted on. There is a lot being decided here at the local level and it’s important that Dover-Foxcroft voters weigh in on these issues.
