This is the month that eager, full-of-hope young adults graduate from institutions of learning. Whether high school or college, these graduates are always subjected to one final round of advice from a commencement speaker before they toss their hats in the air and bolt for the door.

June 2, 2017 was declared Richard M. Brown Day in the town of Dover-Foxcroft. The day was marked to honor an exceptional man who has been the CEO of the Charlotte White Center (CWC) for the past 38 years.

The area’s five high schools all had representation on the 2017 Penobscot Valley Conference (PVC) All-Conference Outdoor Track Teams.

Upcoming summer events

On Election Day Tuesday, June 13th voters will be going to the polls. Unlike many other elections, we are not seeing constant media coverage as there is only one State bond question being voted on. There is a lot being decided here at the local level and it’s important that Dover-Foxcroft voters weigh in on these issues.

Once again the budget season for school districts is upon us and once again my concern in writing this letter is the way in which the school committee chooses to handle the SAD #4 budget development

It saddens me to see people use this space to put out misleading and false information to the taxpayers and voters of Dover-Foxcroft. Therefore, I feel the need to correct information which Chris Maas stated last week in the publication of this newspaper.

Saturday morning June 10, Dexter Dover Area Towns in Transition (DDATT) will sponsor a small-scale haymaking workshop to demonstrate simple hand tools that run on whatever you had for breakfast, as well as a small gasoline powered sickle bar mower.

Genealogists have an unwritten code of ethics. While we should seek the truth about our family lines without flinching, we also have an implicit obligation to respect others’ privacy and not cause deliberate hurt needlessly by revealing secrets.

Our administration has done a good job bringing accountability to the Maine Turnpike Authority. Mainers are still counting on us to ensure that turnpike revenue is spent as efficiently as possible.
