The Red County Caucus wishes to interject a healthy dose of common sense into the debate concerning the ballot initiatives facing Maine voters this coming November. Both Question 1 and Question 2 have far reaching implications to future welfare of this great state. Voters should take the time to look past the rose colored rhetoric, over-used and tired political jargon. Investigate these questions through the eyes of common sense and the answers become clear.

A hat trick from senior Dillon Drew was not enough for the visiting Piscataquis Community High School Pirates to overcome the ball controlling offense the Fort Kent Warriors brought to the team’s opening contest of the Class C North boys soccer playoffs on Oct. 24. The Warriors won the game, 6-3, in dominating fashion.

The Winthrop Ramblers had two potential game-winning goals waved off in the second half of the Oct. 24 Class C North field hockey final against Dexter Regional High School. But the Ramblers shook it off and annexed their first regional championship since 2012, nipping Dexter 2-1 on junior midfielder Kate Perkins’ goal with 3:19 left in the first overtime.

The Kiwanis Club of Dover-Foxcroft is proud to sponsor a variety of programs for the benefit of children. Through the Community Christmas Project, Kiwanians, area churches, charitable organizations, businesses, generous individuals and groups of individuals have the opportunity to anonymously “adopt” needy children within our community for Christmas. An adopter then purchases needed clothing for their adopted child(ren).
