Track and field results

The 2018 outdoor track and field season began last week for the area’s high school teams.

On April 20 Greenville High School traveled to Hampden Academy where the Laker boys scored 37 points to place sixth among a field of eight teams.

Junior Ben Baldwin led Greenville by winning both the 100 and 200 with respective times of 12.05 and 24.32 seconds.

Senior Anthony Mason was the javelin runner-up with a throw of 121 feet, 3 inches. Mason also came in fifth in the 3,200 at 11:31.09. Sophomore Noah Bilodeau was right behind in sixth place at 11:48.77.

Senior Connor DiAngelo completed the Greenville scoring by finishing third in the discus at 89-09.

The Laker girls placed sixth of seven teams with three points on a trio of sixth-place performances.

Freshman Jessica Cobb was sixth in the 1,600 and discus with a time of 6:41.74 and throw of 69-02. Bianca Breton came in sixth in the 300 hurdles at 62.25 seconds.

On April 21 Penquis Valley High School opened the season at Old Town High School, and the Patriot girls tied the Bangor Christian School with 17 points to finish seventh among 10 teams.

Junior Cymeria Robshaw won the 100 in 13.48 seconds. Robshaw was also third in the long jump at a distance of 15-07.50.

Senior Kelsey Robinson finished sixth in the high jump at 4-00.

Also on April 21 the teams from Dexter Regional High School and Foxcroft Academy were both in action at Mount Desert Island High School. The Dexter boys finished fifth of eight teams with 27 points and Foxcroft was right behind in sixth place at 24 points.

Tiger sophomore Cameron Paige was the meet’s high jump winner by clearing the bar at 5-04. He also came in second in the 200 at 24.71 seconds.

Junior Dillion Allen placed second in the long jump at 18-04.

Junior David Kirshkaln finished sixth in the shot put at 36-04.

For Foxcroft, freshman Khrystofor Downing won the 300 hurdles in a time of 53.83 seconds.

Junior Nicholas Daneman came in fourth in the 3,200 at 12:34.25, as did the Pony 4×100 relay team. Sophomore Cole Edgerly, freshman Izaak Krause, sophomore Hunter Clarke and junior Dustin Simmons combined to cover the lap in 52.60 seconds.

Clarke finished fifth in the 200 at 26.07 seconds, and freshman Logan Martin placed fifth in the high jump at 4-10.

Simmons was sixth in the long jump at 16-11.25, and sixth in the javelin was senior Jonathan Labree at 107-01.

The girls from Dexter ended the day in fifth place with a score of 36 points and the Foxcroft girls were seventh of the eight programs with 14 points.

Tiger junior Danielle Cummings had the top performance in both the 100 and high jump in 13.38 seconds and at a height of 4-06. Cummings also came in second in the 200 at 27.67 seconds.

Senior Rebecca Batron placed third in the shot put and fifth in the javelin with respective throws of 28-10.50 and 69-11.

Foxcroft freshman Kelli Black was the meet runner-up in the 1,600 racewalk in 12:17.41. Black also ran the second leg of the fourth-place 4×100 relay team, joining classmates Miriam Cameron, Rebecca Thomas and Ava Rayfield for a time of 65.44 seconds.

Junior Hannah Sprecher completed the Pony scoring by coming in fifth in the discus at 71-00.
