We all know people who just seem to know where to go at just the right time to see deer. They have that uncanny ability to bag a nice buck almost every year. These people have good hunter instincts -- what I call “the sixth sense.”

Pirates invaded Dover-Foxcroft on Nov. 10 during the Death on Deck dinner theatre at The Commons at Central Hall. The production was presented by Center Theatre and the Slightly Off Center Players, and directed by Dan Sharrow with Grace Carlson in charge of sound and lighting.

The SeDoMoCha Middle School math team participated in its first competition of the year on Nov. 7 at the Ridge View Community School in Dexter.

Grafton, who turns five mid-December, visited Eileen and I this Veterans Day. We had not seen each other in weeks. Our weekly day to babysit each other ended months ago when Grafton and his mom moved to Brunswick, and he started pre-K school.

Look through these pages on a regular basis, and you will see evidence that for many Mainers, taking up hunting or fishing is nearly a birthright. This week alone, I interviewed a pair of 12-year-olds who have been hunting since they were legally allowed to do so.

Mayo Regional Hospital and Dartmouth-Hitchcock held a “Go Live” event on Oct. 29 to launch the Tele-Emergency program. Tele-Emergency services are now offered, 24 hours a day, seven days a week in the Mayo Regional Hospital Emergency Department in addition to standard emergency care services.

Many people who witnessed undefeated Josh Harvey’s -- who is a graduate of Dexter Regional High School -- recent majority draw against Joe Giannetti in the main event of Cage Titans 41 at the Plymouth (Massachusetts) Memorial Hall thought Harvey won -- including his opponent.

The Center Theatre for the performing arts has announced it will be holding a holiday party for their members and guests at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30. The event will feature light appetizers, a sneak preview of the “Wicked Christmas Carol,” a celebration of the beginning of renovations nearly 20 years ago, and a chance to win free movie admissions for all of 2019.
