The SeDoMoCha Middle School math team participated in its first competition of the year on Nov. 7 at the Ridge View Community School in Dexter.

Grafton, who turns five mid-December, visited Eileen and I this Veterans Day. We had not seen each other in weeks. Our weekly day to babysit each other ended months ago when Grafton and his mom moved to Brunswick, and he started pre-K school.

Mayo Regional Hospital and Dartmouth-Hitchcock held a “Go Live” event on Oct. 29 to launch the Tele-Emergency program. Tele-Emergency services are now offered, 24 hours a day, seven days a week in the Mayo Regional Hospital Emergency Department in addition to standard emergency care services.

The Center Theatre for the performing arts has announced it will be holding a holiday party for their members and guests at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30. The event will feature light appetizers, a sneak preview of the “Wicked Christmas Carol,” a celebration of the beginning of renovations nearly 20 years ago, and a chance to win free movie admissions for all of 2019.

In a surprise to exactly no one, Bruce Poliquin filed a lawsuit in federal court on Tuesday, challenging Maine's ranked-choice voting system. Poliquin has a duty to his campaign, the plurality of his constituents that voted for him, and to the country to file this suit, and file it exactly when he did.

With the first significant snowfall of the season, it’s time to think of all things Christmassy in Greenville. And what better way to kick things off than to participate in the annual Deck the Halls celebration, taking place all day on Saturday, Nov. 24.

Ten years ago, few outdoor folks in this neck of the woods gave ticks a second thought. Not so today. Most of us who spend time outdoors have had encounters with deer ticks, the bad ones, or know someone with Lyme disease. Recently, University of Maine Professor Jim Dill, a tick expert, appeared as a guest on my Sunday night call-in radio program, Maine Outdoors. The phones rang constantly the entire hour as listeners queued up to ask their questions of professor Dill.

There can be no question that Maine saw a blue wave on Election Day. Voters elected Democrat Janet Mills as governor, flipped the state Senate from Republican to Democratic control and expanded the Democratic majority in the state House of Representatives.
