Penquis Valley High School senior Cymeria Robshaw won the 55-meter dash and triple jump and she came in second in the long jump at the Penobscot Valley Conference/Eastern Maine Indoor Track League small school championship on Saturday at the University of Maine.

The Foxcroft Academy wrestling team came into the Class B North championship Feb. 9 at Ellsworth High School looking to defend the squad’s title for the fourth year in a row. The Ponies knew it was not going to be easy, but quickly realized how hard it was going to be.

This event will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19 in Dover-Foxcroft and is part of Pine Tree Hospice’s adult bereavement support program. The program is open to adults in the community who have experienced grief due to death, whether recently or in the past. The support group, presentation, and nutritious lunch are all free of charge.

Four snowmobilers encountered thin ice on Sebec Lake early Saturday morning, Feb. 9. Shortly after midnight the four men encountered thin ice on the lake, Carignan and Smith escaped going in but Lynch and Taylor became completely submerged along with their snowmobiles. Both men managed to get out of the water and onto the ice. Taylor drove one of the two remaining snowmobiles to an unoccupied camp to find warmth.

I can’t remember the last time I paid to see one movie twice. (Serious movie fans are perhaps laughing.) But in the last few weeks I bought tickets to “They Shall Not Grow Old,” film director Peter Jackson’s documentary commemorating the 100th anniversary of World War I.
