Pre-Halloween snow last fall turned many of Maine high schools’ grass athletic fields into slippery, muddy messes by the time the soccer playoffs began.

An art show and reception will be from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 30 at the Millworks, LLC building at 16 Church Street. Featured artists are Wally Warren, Joe Kennedy and Nellie Kennedy. All three are long-time friends and neighbors living and producing art in Ripley.

A majority of Maine voters twice approved Ranked Choice Voting at the ballot box over the past several years. But, we still don’t have it for the 2020 presidential election. That’s because the Maine Legislature must act.

Not so long ago, deer numbers in northern Maine were at a crisis point. It was said, not jokingly, that in some Aroostook County townships the lynx, a federally listed endangered species, was more prevalent than deer!

Avery Herrick got a second chance to swing the bat in the eighth inning of Dexter’s Class C North championship game against Narraguagus of Harrington after the catcher couldn’t snare her high, foul popup behind the plate. The sophomore pitcher took full advantage.

Remember when Gov. Janet Mills told you that she would not, if elected, support increased taxes? Pay close attention to what happens in Augusta in the next couple weeks, because she may very well have to choose whether she meant that promise or not.
