Center Theatre concludes 10th anniversary with seat drive
DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Center Theatre recently announced that it is closing out the 10th anniversary festivities by holding a seat drive. The goal is to get 16 more seats sponsored in the Center Theatre auditorium by the end of 2016.
According to Executive Director Patrick Myers, the Center Theatre began offering seat sponsorships well before the seats were installed. “Originally, the seat sponsorships were a way for the Theatre to raise money to finish the auditorium,” Myers said, “but now they are simply a wonderful way for individuals, families, clubs, businesses or any other group, to make a lasting contribution to the Center Theatre.”
Donors can sponsor a seat for $500 and have their own message on a brass plaque that will be placed on a seat in the Theatre. “A seat sponsorship can celebrate a milestone, remember a loved one or give a message to the community,” Myers said. “Really, anything you can think of, within reason, can be on a seat plaque The $500 seat pledge can be split up over a number of months, to make it easier.”
He also states that seat sponsorships are tax deductible if people want to reduce their tax burden at the end of the year.
To kick off the seat drive, the current Center Theatre board of directors chipped in to buy the first plaque which says, not surprisingly, “2016 Center Theatre Board of Directors.”
The Theatre will be promoting the seat drive at events over the holidays and in the Hometown Holidays Festival of Lights Parade. Anyone interested in sponsoring a seat at the Center Theatre can either do so in person at the Center Theatre box office during regular business hours (10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays), by calling the Theatre at 564-8943 or by visiting www.centertheatre.org and looking for the “2016 Seat Drive” link on the home page.
The Center Theatre is a non-profit performing arts venue dedicated to making the arts a part of life in the Maine Highlands.
