Foxcroft Academy’s ‘Shrek the Musical’ to premiere
DOVER-FOXCROFT — Set in a mythical land, “Shrek the Musical” is the story of an ogre who lives alone in a swamp at the edge of the Kingdom of Duloc when suddenly his happy solitude is disrupted by a band of banished fairytale characters, who lead the reluctant ogre on a journey of danger, friendship, and love.

SHREK COMES TO FOXCROFT ACADEMY — Foxcroft Academy will present “Shrek the Musical” in the school gymnasium on Nov. 13 and 14 at 7 p.m.
Foxcroft Academy’s fun and fast-paced production — which closely follows the plot of the DreamWorks animated film “Shrek” — stars freshman Josh Whittemore as Shrek, sophomore Alyssa Pearl-Ross as Donkey and seniors Berk Tezgular and Angelina Buzzelli as Lord Farquuad and Princess Fiona, respectively.
Led by music teacher Josh Guthrie, the production is co-directed by senior Mitchell Chasse, who Guthrie says has been a tremendous asset. “It’s good to place such an important role in a student’s hands,” Guthrie said . “He is the main choreographer, assists with the costumes, and even acts a part.”
The production boasts a cast and crew of more than 30 Foxcroft Academy students, several SeDoMoCha School actors, a fire-breathing dragon, exploding birds, smoke, lights and much more.
The family friendly play premieres Friday, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m. in the gymnasium, and there will be a second showing Saturday, Nov. 14, also at 7 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased in the gym lobby prior to the show. Make sure to arrive early, as previous musical productions were close to full capacity.
