PRYMCA facility gets updated for 25th anniversary

DOVER-FOXCROFT — This year, the Piscataquis Regional YMCA is celebrating the 25th anniversary of opening their facility on Park Street. While there are special events and activities planned for later in the year, the building itself is getting many improvements over the course of the year.

“We’re very proud of our facility and the good work we do for the community,” said Deb Boyd, the Y’s executive director. “We wanted to thank our members and the community for their support over the past 25 years by improving the facility that we all depend on.”
Some of these improvements are already underway, including new paint in the child care room and fitness center and new flooring in the stretching room.
Other improvements will be coming over the course of the year. “We’ll be getting some exciting and enriching new equipment for our child care programs and some improvements to the pool as well.” Boyd said. “You’ll also see new signage later in the year that will match new branding requirements from Y-USA. We didn’t want these projects to impact our day-to-day operations so these improvements are being funded through a combination of grants, donations and volunteer efforts — for which we are grateful.”
The Y is inviting anyone who wants to see these changes to stop by anytime. “We’re committed to improving our community and always happy to give tours and show people the work we’re doing,” said Boyd.
The Piscataquis Regional YMCA is a mission-driven organization that is committed to the community and dedicated to promoting healthy spirit, mind, and body for all, through programs and services grounded in Christian heritage and the core values of caring, honest, respect and responsibility.
