3-year-old child run over by family member in Lagrange

LAGRANGE — A three-year-old child was run over by a car driven by a family member at a Lagrange residence on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 26 according to the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.

Dispatchers received the call at about 3:55 p.m., and while deputies were responding, they were told the child was being rushed to the hospital by family members in a car.

A fire investigator with the Maine Fire Marshal’s Office intercepted the car and placed the child and a parent in his cruiser to take them to emergency personnel. 

The sheriff’s office then coordinated ambulances staged at various locations to get the child the quickest medical care, according to a news release by the sheriff’s office.

The child was transferred to an Orono Fire Department ambulance and taken to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, where he was being treated for serious injuries.

The sheriff’s office crash reconstruction team, criminal investigation detectives and patrol division are investigating. No further information will be released, the sheriff’s office said.
