Theatre auditions rescheduled

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Due to the inclement weather on Tuesday, auditions for the production of “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” at the Center Theatre have been rescheduled to Thursday, March 21 at 6 p.m. Inspired by the farces of the ancient Roman playwright Plautus (251-183 BC), the musical tells the bawdy story of a slave named Pseudolus and his attempts to win his freedom by helping his young master woo the girl next door. The show would not be possible without the generous support of Steinke and Caruso Dental Care.

No previous acting experience is necessary for those wishing to audition. Everyone attending will be asked to read from the script and should also be prepared to sing roughly 16 bars of music, whether  a capella or with a CD.  There is no requirement as to the type of music sung. The cast includes 11 men and 11 women of varying ages.
The production will be Directed by Jon Ferreira with musical direction by Kaitlin Young. Rehearsals will begin the week of March 25, and run Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings as well as Saturday during the day. There will be some Sunday afternoon rehearsals starting in May. Not everyone will be called for every rehearsal. Performances of Forum are scheduled for Friday May, 17 at 7 p.m., Saturday the 18th at 7 p.m., Sunday the 19th at 2 p.m. and the following weekend Friday the 24th at 7 p.m. and Saturday the 25th at 2 and 7 p.m.
