Fall athletics will kick off school year at SeDoMoCha
DOVER-FOXCROFT — The first full day of classes in RSU 68 will be Wednesday, Aug. 26. SeDoMoCha Middle School fall athletics will start nine days prior on Monday, Aug. 17.
About 80 students signed up for fall sports, SeDoMoCha School Principal Cameron Archer said during a Tuesday evening school board meeting at the SeDoMoCha School. These are good numbers, he said with the school offering cross country, field hockey, football, golf and soccer this season.
Once practices begin, other students can still join an Eagle team, Archer said.
Field lines will be painted next week, he added.
In other business, Archer said there should not be a great adjustment for students in 2026-27 with a new state policy banning cellphones during regular school hours.
Previously students could have their devices first thing in the morning upon coming into the building prior to classes. Now phones will need to be powered down when pupils come through the doors and then will be placed in their lockers for the day.
Staff members are at the front doors to greet students in the morning, and they will encourage arrivals to come inside and not congregate outside on their phones if need be.
The school board set its chair and vice chair for 2026-27 with Jenny Chase and Marc Poulin to serve in the respective positions again.
