Piscataquis representatives chosen at Delegate Nominating Meeting
DOVER-FOXCROFT — Four delegates and one alternate from Piscataquis County were elected at the region’s Democratic Delegate Nominating Meeting on the afternoon of Sunday, July 19 at the Central Hall Commons.
The delegates will vote to choose the Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate at the Maine Democratic Party’s Nominating Convention on Saturday, July 25 at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. Troy Jackson of Allagash is the party’s presumptive U.S. Senate nominee.
DELEGATE ELECTION — Piscataquis County Democrats elected four delegates and an alternative for this Saturday’s Nominating Convention in Bangor to choose the party nominee for U.S. Senate. Delegates are Dr. Richard Evans, Sydney Mitchell and Sue Mackey Andrews of Dover-Foxcroft and Joel Vail of Milo. John Dow of Bowerbank is the alternate.
The four delegates are Dr. Richard Evans of Dover-Foxcroft, who received 70 votes; Sydney Mitchell of Dover-Foxcroft, 42 votes; Joel Vail of Milo 40 votes; and Susan Mackey Andrews of Dover-Foxcroft, 37 votes. John Dow of Bowerbank, 34 votes, will serve as the alternate.
The Maine Democratic Party completed two days of Delegate Nominating Meetings over Saturday and Sunday. The full list of delegate results by county is available online.
More than 20,000 Maine Democrats were verified to participate in the weekend’s meetings, with 17,279 casting a ballot. This included nearly 4,000 Democrats seeking to serve as delegates.
