Free Produce Pop-Up Market returns to Greenville Wednesday

GREENVILLE — Fresh, healthy fruits and vegetables will once again be available to the Greenville community at no cost at a Produce Pop-Up Market scheduled for Wednesday, July 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Northern Light CA Dean Hospital, 364 Pritham Ave. The market is hosted by CA Dean Hospital, the University of Maine Cooperative Extension in Piscataquis County and the Piscataquis Regional Food Center.

The market is designed to increase access to nutritious foods and encourage people of all ages to incorporate more fruits and vegetables into their diets.

Produce will be distributed while supplies last. Free Fuel for Fun Snack Bags will be available for kids.

According to the Maine Shared Community Health Needs Assessment, nearly 17% of residents and 25% of youth in the region are food insecure. While individuals experiencing food insecurity are encouraged to attend, the market is open to anyone who would like fresh fruits and vegetables.

Attendees are asked to bring reusable bags to put their produce in, if available.

Food for the pop-up produce market is provided by the Piscataquis Regional Food Center.
