Sangerville fire chief resigns
SANGERVILLE — Sangerville Fire Chief Matt Blockler has tendered his resignation after three years in the position.
“Last night served as the end of an era for me,” Blockler wrote in a Monday post on his Facebook page. “At 1800 (6 p.m.) last night I tendered my resignation as fire chief for the Town of Sangerville. Although leading the department gave me great joy, I felt the expectations far exceeded reality in today’s world. This year marks 20 years of fire and EMS service in this county. There are many things I will miss and many I will not. I am hoping to continue my service along other avenues.”

Blockler’s resignation came in between the two regular Select Board meetings, held the first and third Wednesday of the month.
Per his biography on the town website, Blockler was raised in Sangerville and he became a firefighter in 2007. In June 2023 he was appointed fire chief and worked to further the capabilities of the Sangerville Fire Department to provide a level of care and service residents can be proud of.
