Davis wins county commissioner primary
Current Piscataquis County Commissioners Chair Paul T. Davis Sr., R-Sangerville, will most likely return to office after the November election as Davis won the Republican primary for the District 1 seat during the June 9 election.
With six of nine municipalities reporting – and the Bangor Daily News calling the race — Davis received 406 votes, nearly twice the 212 for Paul R. Zimmerman, R-Guilford. The votes were split at 65.7 to 34.3%.

There were no Democratic candidates for the seat so Davis is likely to win the November election, though a challenger could still run against him as an independent or write-in candidate.
District 1 includes Abbot, Blanchard Township, Bowerbank, Guilford, Kingsbury Plantation, Monson, Parkman, Sangerville, Shirley, Wellington and Willimantic.
