PCHS girls track finishes fifth at conference championship

OLD TOWN — The Piscataquis Community High School girls finished in fifth place at the 2026 Penobscot Valley Conference small school outdoor track and field championship on Friday, May 30 at Old Town High School. The Pirates scored 53 points to come in fifth among 13 schools picking up points.

PCHS senior Ava Goulette was a double winner with first-place discus and shot put throws.

Goulette earned top honors in the discus with a throw measuring 114 feet, nearly 25 feet beyond the distance of 89-01 for runner-up Bangor Christian School senior Priscilla Smith.

Goulette put the shot 32-10.50 to earn the PVC crown. This throw was more than two and a half feet further than the 30-03.75 for the second-place distance of 30-03.75 heaved by George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill junior Acadia Simmons.

Senior Sadie Kelley came in fifth in the 1,600 racewalk. Kelley covered the four laps around the track in 9 minutes, 21.94 seconds. She was about 42 seconds ahead of the 10:14.44 for the runnerup, freshman Lija McDonald of Bangor Christian.

Sophomore Ava Edes won the high jump for PCHS’ fourth first-place performance. Edes cleared the bar at 5-00 to edge Central High School of Corinth senior Grace Menario on jumps.

Pirate sophomore Ella Zeller finished in the top four in the discus and shot put. Zeller was third in the discus at 87-07 and she came in fourth in the shot put with a throw of 28-10.50.

The school’s 4×400 relay team placed fifth as sophomore Macie Littlefield, junior Olivia Goodwin, Edes and senior Molly Goodwin combined for a time of 5:04.95.

Littlefield was part of a three-way tie for fifth place in the high jump at 4-04.

Dexter Regional High School ended the day seventh in the girls standings with a score of 20 points.

The Tiger 4×100 relay squad came in second with a time of 53.41 seconds. The team was made up of sophomores Jemma Bullock and Asani Miller and seniors Cassidy Drew and Jazmin Channon.

Channon also placed fourth in the 100 with a time of 13.48 seconds. Miller finished fourth in the 200 with her time of 28.26 seconds. 

Sophomore Ella McClintock-Hatch came in fifth in both the 800 and 3,200 with respective times of 2:41.11 and 13:23.31.

Penquis Valley High School had six points to finish 13th among the girls teams.

Patriot senior Brooklyn Decker accounted for the half dozen points in the discus and shot put. Decker came in fourth in the discus at a distance of 82-08. Her shot put throw of 28-09.50 was good for fifth place.

In the boys meet, Dexter scored 50 points to place seventh among a field of 14 teams.

Tiger senior Damiair Miller came in first in the triple jump. Miller had the day’s top jump at 40-10.75, five inches more than the 40-05.75 for runnerup junior Reece Renwick of George Stevens. 

Individually, Miller also finished third in the long jump at 19-04 and his time of 12.12 seconds in the 100-meter finals placed him fifth. 

Miller had a hand in 24 or nearly half of Dexter’s total points as he also anchored the third-place 4×100 relay.

Junior Tristan Hopkins-Watrous, seniors Bodhi Langlais and Bryce Cooper and Miller together ran a time of 47.55 seconds to come in third.

Cooper tied for first in the high jump. Cooper and Bangor Christian junior Alden Stutheit both topped out at 5-10.

Senior Brady Jerome placed in the top three in the shot put and discus. He had a throw measuring 45-04 in the shot put to come in second and his distance of 120-10 was good for third place in the discus standings. 

Senior Tanner Ladd was sixth in the discus at 115-06.

Dexter had two other sixth-place finishes. Junior Piet Gebler came in sixth in the 400 with his time of 57.65 seconds. Hopkins-Watrous placed sixth in the 300 hurdles at 49.87 seconds.

The Penquis boys scored 14 points to finish ninth in the team standings.

Patriot senior Jareth Williams came in third in both the 100 and 200. He had a time of 11.88 in the 100-meter finals and ran the 200 in 24.12 seconds.

Senior Ethan Lewis added a fifth-place finish in the 400 at 57.57 seconds.

The PCHS boys were 12th with eight points.

Pirate sophomore Oliver Luckovskis picked up all eight points as he placed second in the 800. Luckovskis ran a time of 2:08.05.
