“THE SOUND OF MUSIC” — The cast, crew, and band pose for a photo after a triumphant opening night performance of “The Sound of Music” at the Center Theatre in Dover-Foxcroft. The show will be performed four more times from May 15 to 17.

“The Theatre is celebrating our 20th anniversary year and we last performed ‘The Sound of Music in 2016’, so we thought 2026 was a great time to bring this important show back onto the stage,” Myers said.

Many theater goers at opening night commented on the vibrant singing and innovative set design. Not only did the Theatre remove 30 seats to make room for the band, they also created an upstairs exit into what is normally their prop storage area to create an expansive feeling for the Von Trapp mansion.

“The Sound of Music” returns for four more shows on Friday the 15th at 7 p.m., Saturday the 16th at 2 and 7 p.m. and a final show on Sunday the 17th at 2 p.m. Tickets for the production range from $8 to $20 and can be purchased by calling the Center Theatre at 207-564-8943, visiting www.centertheatre.org or stopping in at the box office, 20 East Main St. between the hours of noon and 7 p.m. The production would not be possible without the support of local sponsors including: Maine Biosensors; Win Win Thrift Store; the Piscataquis County Ice Arena; Bob’s Farm, Home, and Garden; and Davis Brother’s Furniture.
