Piscataquis Democrats attend state convention

PORTLAND — Piscataquis County Democrats were well represented at the Maine Democratic Convention at Thompson’s Point in Portland on May 1-2.

Delegates heard rousing messages from the candidates for Maine’s Congressional races as well as the gubernatorial contest and were treated to an enthusiastic, unifying message from Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota. Other highlights include a review of accomplishments in this year’s legislative session presented by Speaker of the House Ryan Fecteau and President of the Senate Mattie Daughtry. Some of these legislative accomplishments include increased funding for childcare and free tuition for community college as well as funding to address the housing crisis. 

Voters are encouraged to vote in the primary election on June 9. Absentee ballots are available beginning May 11.
