Coming-of-age film ‘Better Together’ coming to Center Theatre

DOVER-FOXCROFT — In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, “Better Together” — the award-winning coming-of-age adventure film that has captured 22 film festival wins — returns to theaters for a limited engagement this May. The Center Theatre for the Performing Arts will host screenings from May 17 to 21.

When broken-hearted high school senior Jesse leads his best friends on a quest left behind by  his father, their search for the mysterious Zion Point and a legendary meteor shower becomes  something far greater — a journey of friendship, identity and rediscovering hope. “Better  Together” carries a powerful and timely message for teens and families navigating the very real  challenges of mental health today.

“It’s a beautiful thing to see teens and families walk out of theaters with a renewed sense of  hope – that’s why our team felt called to produce this film!,” Director Kyle Roberts said. “It’s  carefully crafted to encourage much needed conversations around mental health. We are not  alone. We are ‘Better Together.’”

“Better Together” stars Bart Johnson (“High School Musical”, “Strong Fathers”, “Strong Daughters”), Gattlin Griffith (“Labor Day”, “Joker: Folie à Deux”, “The Boys”), Ricardo Hurtado (“School of Rock”,  “Malibu Rescue”), Giselle Torres (Disney’s “The Villains of Valley View”), LaRonn Marzett, Katie  Burgess and Juan Graterol Jr. The film is produced by Kim Dawson, a 40-year veteran of the  film and television industry whose credits include Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles I, II, and III and  “Letters to God”.
