Goodwin, Kelley win events for PCHS track

HAMPDEN — The Piscataquis Community High School girls track and field team ended the day with a score of 38 points to place third among five schools during a Penobscot Valley Conference meet at Hampden Academy on May 8.

Pirate senior Molly Goodwin earned top honors in the javelin. Goodwin had a throw measuring 87 feet, 5 inches, giving her first place by nearly 5 feet.

Goodwin also came in third in the triple jump at 28-02.

Senior Sadie Kelley finished first in the 1,600 racewalk with a time of 9 minutes, 34.94 seconds. Kelley was well ahead of the 13:09.92 for event runner-up Hampden junior Isabella Pecze.

Sophomore Ava Edes placed second in the high jump as she cleared the bar at 4-10. Edes also had a fourth-place javelin throw at 79-10.

Junior Olivia Goodwin came in second in the javelin with a distance of 82-09. Goodwin was also fourth in the discus at 74-04.

Sophomore Savanna Ward finished fifth in both the shot put and discus at 22-11 and 67 feet respectively.

The PCHS boys picked up seven points to come in fourth among a field of five teams.

Pirate junior had the No. 2 triple jump performance. He landed a distance of 34-07.25.

Freshman Elijah Polley added a point with his fifth-place 110-meter hurdle finish, in 20.71 seconds.
