Strout earns weekly pitching honor
GORHAM – Freshman Hayden Strout, a resident of Charleston and 2026 Foxcroft Academy graduate, of the nationally-ranked University of Southern Maine Huskies’ baseball team has been recognized by the Little East Conference with a weekly accolade following a standout performance. Strout has been named the LEC Pitcher of the Week, USM announced.
Receiving his first weekly award from the LEC this season, Strout earned the win for the Huskies over No. 3 Salve Regina University of Newport, Rhode Island. Firing six strong innings, Strout allowed just three earned runs, yielding seven hits and five walks to the Seahawks while striking out three. The Huskies’ rookie started the game strong with a one-two-three top of the first, and pitched well throughout to limit the Seahawk offense to the lowest run total of the season.
Strout is 5-1 on the season in six starts with seven total appearances and 34.0 innings pitched. He has a 2.91 earned run average and has held his opponents to a .218 batting average.
